Starting out with drawings, Clemens Ascher dreamed up an abstract, futuristic world for the all electric BMW i4 concept car. Fascinated by the car's contrasting qualities - bold yet elegant, powerful yet silent - Clemens adapted the concept to his artistic scenes by designing simple and monumental architectural structures.
Ideas were exchanged in a verbal ping pong between the photographer, creative director Julia Obermeier and our CGI director Thorsten Jasper Weese, eventually turning Clemens' paper sketches into virtual reality. The team traveled to the south of Spain searching for architectonic inspirations and to capture photographic material to be placed into the emerging rendered world, assembled by our Munich studio.
Instead of a stand-in car Thorsten took along the CGI vehicle on his laptop and moved it into position via real-time pre-visualisation.

Clemens shot the woman and plants in Berlin, and with the last elements in place our post team shrouded the series in an eternal twilight and added the finishing touches to perfect the photographer's vision. See all images so far released on our website.
